When the water came, we tried everything to stay in our houses. But the water kept rising until our houses collapsed. We couldn't take anything with us. Only our little children we could save so that they would not drown in the masses of water. I am so grateful to God that many people helped us with food - Christians like you! Although you live in other countries, you still care about us. We are very grateful to you! And we thank God for helping us and caring for us.

In the South too, where much land is still under water, we were able to bring help to families who lost everything.
Whole swaths of land are still flooded, especially in the South of the country. People who were able to escape to dry land areas are living in temporary shelters, often covered only with tarpaulins. Your help has reached the poorest, whose mud huts were swept away by the flood and who can hardly find work as day laborers today.
Eleazar Müller, missionary in Pakistan, reporting on relief efforts in the South of the country:
In the South of Pakistan, there are people of different Hindu tribes living, who belong to the lowest caste of society. Most of the people work on the cotton fields of large landowners. They themselves have no property and, like slaves, are completely dependent on their landlords. They work in the fields all year round and receive a share of the harvest in return. If the harvest turns out badly, or if they need money during the year, they have to go into debt. Because they are illiterate, they are often cheated and receive less than they are entitled to. Often, they suffer violence at the hands of their landowners. Hardly any of the children here go to school, and if they do, the walk to school is miles long.
The flood has taken everything from these people. Their huts have been destroyed, their harvests wiped out. There is no escape from debt for them.
Together with our local partners, I was able to visit several villages, meet people, hear their stories and start specific relief efforts.
Thank you, dear friends, for taking care of the need of the people in Pakistan!
Thank you for your eagerness to help!
