A fascinating country of extremes, the Republic of Yakutia. In an area almost as large as India, 24 evangelical partner churches serve to take the Gospel to the peoples of Yakutia. Yakutian dimensions that seem insurmountable - but not for God! Read how you can HELP NOW to take God's Word to the families of Yakutia!
YAKUTIA - that sounds like an unreachably distant land. Sakha - Yakutia is a republic of extremes. It is the largest and coldest region in Russia, almost half of which is located north of the Arctic Circle. It covers 20% of Russia's surface area, but has a population of just under one million. Mighty Siberian rivers, immeasurably valuable natural resources, gold, diamonds... But Yakutia is so much more than these superlatives. It is the land of the Yakuts and other peoples who have found their home in the vastness of the permafrost - whether in cities or in remote “Ulusy”, the settlements that are often only accessible via the ice of the frozen rivers. It is the land of people who need God. In an area almost the size of India, 24 evangelical partner churches are dedicated to taking the Gospel to the people of Yakutia. These are the dimensions of Yakutia.
One of these churches serves in Ulakhan-An, over 8,000 km from Moscow. “No more than20 parishioners, but what a lively, active, indigenous community of Yakuts,”says Vladimir C. (Bible Mission Omsk). “They tirelessly invite other Yakuts to come and visit the church services. For example, we meet the director of the city museum at the church service, who believes in shamans and the occult and is hearing the Gospel for the first time in the church. Or Yakut hunters and fishermen who ask in amazement why Jesus is no longer hanging on the cross.Pastor Radion can explain the message of the Gospel to all of them - in their native Yakut language. “The hearts of the Yakuts are open to God's word.
Not only the church in Ulakhan-An, but all Christians in Yakutia are passionate about bringing God's Word to families. To do this, they especially need the Bible Stories for Children and Families in Yakut. God has opened the doors for a translation of the Bible stories. And it is important to use them now, as Yegor M., leading pastor of the Yakutian churches, explains: “Many Yakuts hardly speak any Russian. But they want to read and hear the Gospel, especially whenYakuts bring it to them in their mother tongue. But there is another important factor. Shamanism and occultism are becoming more and more popular among youngYakuts. So the more children and families we reach NOW with God's Word, the more of them will become followers of Jesus and carry the message to their people that truly saves them - the message of Jesus Christ.”
The Christians in Yakutia - like in the congregation of Ulakhan-An - want to bring God's word to families. To do this, they need the Bible Story Book in Yakut - as a book and as an audio book app.
The Yakut Christians have a huge task ahead of them: they want to bring God's word to families in a huge area, as a Bible and children's Bible in the Yakut language. They are prepared to do everything to bring their people the message of Jesus Christ, who can free them from the spell of shamanism and occultism. For this we can equip them TOGETHER NOW. Please help us to print the Children's Bible in the language of the Yakutian people - so that God's Word can change families, transform generations to become followers of Jesus and this way overcome even Yakutian dimensions.
Thank you for being a part of this!
