Even without knowledge of Tajik or the language of the Pamir people, we would have understood this word: Tashakor - Thank you! Every conversation we have in the village of Shujand, every gesture and every look expresses what the people feel - gratitude.

Pamir villages after landslide

Shujand had suffered most severely from the landslide that destroyed or severely damaged several houses here on July 13. The main road has now been cleared, the power supply restored, and the mighty Pamir peaks rise quietly above the village.
But what is left of the people's houses is stuck in a dried mass of rubble and mud.

Your help brings hope

When the team of brothers from the church in Dushanbe brought the first relief supplies to Shujand in July, the people were overwhelmed by the willingness of the Christians to help - and by your willingness to sacrifice, dear friends, which has made this first relief action possible. It is this testimony of loving care which causes so much gratitude in the hearts of the Pamir people.They feel that with the relief goods they receive above all the message that they are not forgotten, and that God cares for them through His children.

"We are very grateful to our brothers - the Christians - for coming to our village to bring help," a man from Shujand tells us, and of course, visibly moved, he too says, "Tashakor," puts his hand on his heart and gives us a smile.

In this first action we were able to distribute building materials for 21 houses and provide food for 30 families.
Thank you for bringing hope to these people, so that even in the shadow of the Pamir peaks, the light of the Gospel shines ever stronger!

What has been distributed so far?

In cooperation with the crisis team and the local authorities, the people were supported primarily with food and building materials.

30 families each received:
1 bag of flour (50 kg)
5 liters of vegetable oil
5 kg of sugar

To 21 houses (households) were distributed:
17 tons of cement
126 cubic meters of gravel
and for each household according to need and damage:
timber
metal roof sheets
metal parts for roof structures

During the relief operations, the district administrator of Rushan district traveled to Shujand to meet with our team and express his appreciation and gratitude. He emphasized that no one had provided such extensive help as the church in Dushanbe.

We would like to pass this gratitude on to you, dear friends. Your prayers and sacrifice have made these initial relief efforts possible. Together we want to praise our Lord and continue to pray that He will bring forth fruit from our ministry in the Pamirs and that people will come to living faith in the living God.
