New Children's Bible in Uzbek - Please help reaching Uzbek families with the Word of God - with a set of BIBLE and CHILDREN'S BIBLE, because the transformation of society begins in the smallest cell of society - in the families.
"The children's Bible is especially important for Muslim families. Half of the population of Uzbekistan is made up of women. If someone sits down with the children to look at or read a book together, it's them."
Rashid* belongs to the first generation of Uzbek Christians. Together with other brothers, he is working on the translation of the Children's Bible into Uzbek. As he talks about the opportunities for God's Word in Uzbekistan, passion for the Gospel burns in his eyes - a fire that God is using to take His Word to Uzbek families. Read the interview with Rashid:
The majority of the population of our country counts itself among the Muslims. The work among children is very limited - compared to the activities of Christians for children. Hardly anyone engages with children or listens to them. Of course, this offers a great opportunity for us Christians to tell children about Jesus through summer camps or other activities, but we need teaching material for that. And then there is the reverence of Muslims for a holy book, a book about God. Often adults are not against reading a simple book with stories and illustrations, especially within the family.
However, it is quite different in public life and in society. Here, for many parents, the opinion of the mullahs counts. Often, people's thinking and behaviour is shaped by the structure of the so-called machalja - an association of families in a residential area or street. Here, the laws of the most influential members apply, and people are afraid to think differently. We have to take these factors into account if we want to reach families with God's Word, but they also show how important it is to bring the light of the Gospel into families so that change can begin from here.
We are grateful to God for some easing of restrictions on Christian activities in Uzbekistan. We would like to use this time to obtain approval for the Children's Bible in Uzbek. It will be important for distribution.
We are making the translation from Russian and revising the text to make it suitable for a wide range of ages, including younger children. Uzbekistan will increasingly move to the Latin alphabet, and we will take that into account as well. A team of several brothers is working on the text, and we are very excited about this children's Bible - it is unique to the Uzbek people. Comparable material in Uzbek was previously forbidden in our country.
Of course, we are burning to reach families with God's Word, with a set of Bible and Children's Bible. With due caution and thoughtfulness, we want to leave no stone unturned in serving God and letting Him use us so that families can read God's Word in their native language and understand that God is speaking to them. But I would also like to call upon Christian families: Read God's Word together with your children! The influence of Islam is strong, even in schools and in public life. That is why it is important to strengthen Christian families. Reading the Bible together from childhood is an essential part of this.
Uzbek Christians are burning to bring God's Word to families - as a set of BIBLE and CHILDREN'S BIBLE.
